My Dog's Itching Improved but Hasn't Stopped: How Long Do I Continue?

Short answer: keep going. Improvement is a curve, not a switch: the tummy settles first, scratching and paw-licking usually ease around Day 21–28, and 8 out of 10 dog parents notice visible improvement within 3–4 weeks of daily use. The gut keeps improving after the itch calms, so 30 days is a floor, not a ceiling: compare Day 30 with Day 1 by score, and if it's moving, continue to 60 days — chronic cases may need it. One raw spot, broken skin, the ears, or an itch getting worse needs a vet before another pack.

Why "better but not gone" at Day 30 is a reason to continue, not to stop

You've seen a shampoo do this: quiet for a few days, then back. So is this a real change or another pause?

A bath works on the skin, where the itch shows. The powder works on the gut, and gut and skin are often linked. The line in our Gut Reset guide: the itching is the alarm, the fire is in the gut. An alarm goes quieter before the fire is out — that lag is what a Day-30 "better but not gone" looks like.

The timeline we give every customer for the 120g pack (individual dogs vary):

When What usually changes
Week 1–2 Tummy first: firmer potty, less gas. The itch often hasn't moved.
Around Day 21–28 Scratching and paw-licking start easing.
Day 30 The checkpoint: compare with Day 1. Not visibly better? We refund 100%.
Day 31 onwards The gut keeps rebuilding after the itch calms. Chronic cases may need 60 days — why the program has a 60-Day Rebuild tier.

Day 30 sits about a week after the itch typically begins to ease; stopping there is stopping right after the visible part began.

How to tell it's still improving once you've stopped noticing

"Only a slight difference" is often what a real change looks like from inside the house — scratching that was constant and is now occasional still reads as "still scratching".

So judge from a score. Our free Gut Reset guide uses an evening chart: potty 1–5 (3 is ideal), itch 0–5 (0 is best), energy 1–5, breath 1–5, plus a Day 1 and a Day 30 photo from the same spot in the same light. Numbers first, then photos.

Didn't score from Day 1? Start today: a week of numbers gives you the direction. Moving, even slowly: continue. Flat for two straight weeks: message us on WhatsApp (+91 80507 70671) and use the vet consult that came with your pack.

What the leftover itch usually means

Where the itch is left tells you more than how much is left. In our post-order call notes (220 customers who raised a concern), itching or scratching came up for 67% and paw or body licking for 56% — paw or body licking is the commonest concern after itching itself in those notes.

What you're still seeing What it usually means What to do next
Occasional paw licking, everything else calmer Paw or body licking: raised by 56% of the 220 customers with a concern in our post-order call notes. Keep the daily scoop and the four habits; check between the toes weekly. Red, wet or smelly pads: vet consult.
One spot only, licked raw A local skin problem, not a gut pattern. Vet. Keep the scoop going meanwhile.
Broken or bleeding skin Beyond what food and gut work can settle. Vet, now. The teleconsult is included with every pack.
Ear scratching or head shaking Ears need a look inside (9% of concerns in our call notes). Vet.
Calm for days after a bath, then back A bath cleans where it shows. Nothing changes where it starts. Count the calm days between flares — the gap growing is your progress. Our Relapse Counter does the maths.

If the itch is climbing rather than lingering, stop guessing: itch that doesn't budge after a full food and gut reset can mean parasites, an infection or something in the environment, and a second pack is the wrong tool for all three. We're not against vets. We're against guessing.

Every purchase includes a 1:1 vet teleconsult with Dr. Anvesh Chakravarthy, B.V.Sc & A.H., PetPulse Clinic, and a Pet Care Expert on WhatsApp. Use both before you buy anything else.

When to keep going, and when to stop

Keep going if

  • the scores are moving the right way, even slowly, or the calm days between flares are getting longer;
  • the tummy is clearly better even if the itch is only partly better — the tummy leads, the skin follows.

Then the honest next step is a second pack, which takes you to 60 days — chronic cases may need it, and it's why the program has a 60-Day Rebuild tier after the 30-Day Reset. Same dose as before (dose guide); if you miss a morning, give it the next day — never double up. And keep the four habits from the last step of our Gut Reset guide: the daily scoop, the same meal times, no food from our plates, a clean bowl with fresh water. None cost anything, and dropping one is the easiest way to lose a good Day 30.

Stop, or change course, if

  • nothing changed by Day 30 on a full chart — tell us and we refund 100%: no forms, no return shipping, keep the pack;
  • the itch is getting worse, not lingering;
  • what's left is one spot, broken skin or the ears — the vet comes before the next pack.

"It worked on the first pack but not the second"

Rule out four things first: a gap between packs (the daily habit holds the result); a food change, a new snack, or plate food creeping back; a season change; and the plateau — the first pack's gains are the ones you can see, the second pack's work is slower and internal, so it feels like nothing while the chart says "holding". Re-score for a week and tell your Pet Care Expert; the support doesn't stop at Day 30.

FAQ

Is some improvement a sign to keep going?

Yes. Improvement is a curve: tummy first, scratching and paw-licking easing around Day 21–28, the gut still improving after the itch calms. Slow but moving means continue; flat for two straight weeks means message us and use your vet consult.

How long should I continue if the itching has improved but not stopped?

Finish the 30 days, compare Day 30 with Day 1 by score, and if it is moving, continue to 60 days — chronic cases may need it. One spot, broken skin, the ears, or an itch getting worse: see a vet before the next pack.

Does the itching stop completely, or can mild scratching remain?

Dogs scratch, and we never promise a full stop. What you are looking for is the change: fewer scratching sessions, longer calm stretches between flares, and a settled tummy.

The scratching stopped but the paw licking continues. What now?

Paw or body licking is the commonest concern after itching itself in our post-order call notes (56% of 220 customers who raised one). Keep the daily scoop and the four habits, check between the toes weekly, and use your included vet consult if the pads are red, wet or smelly.

It worked on the first pack but not the second. Why?

Rule out a gap between packs, a food change or plate food creeping back, a season change, and a plateau: the second pack's work is slower and internal, so it can feel like nothing while the chart says holding. Re-score for a week, then tell your Pet Care Expert.

The gut keeps improving after the itch calms. One scoop a day. 30-day guarantee.
